Being Kind to your Mind
Being kind to others comes natural to most of us, but what about being kind to ourselves and our own mind? There are many ways we can be kind to our own mind and look after ourselves so just like our bodies, our mind is looked after too!
Our wellbeing and mental health are just as important as our physical health. Whether we feel low in mood, worried, anxious, stressed or just feel like we’re having a bad day, it’s good to find ways to help us feel better before the negative thoughts take over our mind.
How might we know if our mental health and wellbeing are being impacted?
- Feeling tired and drained frequently
- Loosing appetite and not eating well
- Lacking in motivation
- Not doing the activities we would normally enjoy
- Distancing ourselves from others
- Loosing focus or not being able to concentrate on tasks
- Experiencing lots of emotions and feeling like we can’t cope
There are many things we can do to help look after our mind so we can think positive and feel positive! Why not try something from the list below next time you feel like being kind to your mind?
- Get some fresh air (walk, bike ride or do something you love outside!)
- Do something you love or practise your hobby (baking, sports, crafting etc)
- Spend some time with family or friends
- Talk to someone you know and trust
- Aim to get a good night’s sleep
- Eat a balanced diet including fruit and vegetables
Being kind to our mind is not always easy, especially if we are feeling tired, worried or overwhelmed. It is important in these moments to remember that being kind to ourselves is essential for our mind and wellbeing
